Inaba’s lickable cat products are treats and toppers, not complete meals. The standard Chicken with Beef tube is labeled to be fed as a treat, and the manufacturer states it is not intended to be fed as a meal. Other members of the same range, such as the Tuna Meal Topper and the Chicken Broth side dish, carry different ingredient lists and different feeding directions, so the product name on the package matters more than the brand.
Which product this review covers
The official INABA Foods North American product pages reviewed for this article are published under the INABA Churu name. The title uses “Ciao,” and those pages do not use that word, so check your package. If the label reads differently from the details below, follow the label. The figures here come from INABA’s undated product pages, accessed in October 2026, and they apply only to the named recipe.
Three formats under one brand
“Churu” describes a family of products rather than one food. The pages reviewed separate them into three kinds:
- Creamy treats, such as the Chicken with Beef tube, which the manufacturer says is fed as a treat.
- Meal toppers, such as the Tuna Meal Topper, which carries complete-meal quantities and its own directions.
- Broth side dishes, such as the Chicken Broth, which is also labeled not intended as a meal.
Read the recipe name, the ingredient list, and the feeding panel before you compare any two products.

Phosphorus
INABA’s FAQ answers the question “What is the Phosphorus content of Churu?” with “Approx. 0.2% (max 0.3%).” That is the manufacturer’s own statement, not an independent laboratory analysis, and it does not replace the label for a specific product.
Why guar gum is in it
The FAQ answers “Why is Guar Gum added?” with “To thicken the texture.” INABA adds that the thicker texture makes the product easier for owners to serve and easier for cats to eat. That is a texture rationale from the manufacturer, not a health claim.

How to feed it, and why “not a meal” matters
The Chicken with Beef page describes several uses: by hand, as a wet or dry food topper, or to disguise medication. Its formal feeding direction is more restrictive. It says to feed the product as a treat, states that it is not intended to be fed as a meal, advises providing fresh water, and says to refrigerate after opening and serve as soon as possible.
Treat the product as an occasional addition to a complete diet. The page does not describe it as a source of hydration or as a substitute for water intake, so do not rely on it for that purpose.
Rank #4
- MADE WITH WHOLESOME INGREDIENTS YOU CAN TRUST: Every Inaba product is made with yummy high-quality ingredients including farm-raised chicken and/or natural wild-caught tuna
- KEEP YOUR FELINE HYDRATED WITHOUT ADDING CALORIES: Each delicious, creamy Churu tube contains 91% moisture and only 6 calories (a tenth of the calories of traditional dry cat treats), which makes it a healthy snack you can feel good about feeding
- FREE OF THE BAD STUFF: Your feline friend is important to us, which is why we've kept things like grains, preservatives, artificial colors and carrageenan out of our cat treats, but we added things like Taurine to help with their overall health
- HAVE THEM EATING OUT OF YOUR HAND: These lickable purée meat tubes for cats were designed to be fed by hand, as an interactive way to spend time with your feline, but you can use as a wet/dry cat food topper or as a way to disguise medication
- ADD SOME VARIETY TO YOUR CAT'S LIFE: Available in 19 savory flavors, cats of all stages (kitten to senior) will be able to find a flavor they love
Using a treat to hide medication is a common question. The product page mentions it as a use, but the page does not give dosing or compatibility guidance for any drug. If your cat needs medication, ask your veterinarian before mixing it into any tube, and do not assume that every medication will be accepted or tolerated in a treat.
The Tuna Meal Topper
The Tuna Meal Topper is a separate product. Its ingredients are water, tuna, chicken, tapioca starch, natural flavors, guar gum, natural tuna flavor, calcium carbonate, taurine, vitamin E, vitamins, and minerals. The shared base with the treat is limited; the topper adds calcium carbonate and vitamin and mineral premixes that do not appear in the Chicken with Beef list.

Its label gives a complete-meal quantity and directs owners to reduce other food when using it as a topper. Follow those quantities on the package. Do not apply the treat-tube directions to this product, and do not feed the topper as a treat.

The Chicken Broth is a broth-style side dish with a different ingredient list: chicken broth, chicken, natural flavors, xanthan gum, and vitamin E supplement. Its page reports a maximum moisture of 93.00% and 20 kcal per package, and it directs feeding as a treat rather than a meal. The moisture and calorie values belong to this product only.

- If the product is a topper, follow its complete-meal quantity and reduce other food as directed.
- Refrigerate after opening and use promptly, as the Chicken with Beef page directs.

- Ask your veterinarian about feeding plans, especially for cats with kidney, weight, or medication concerns.
