CatSpot’s 100% Coconut Organic Cat Litter—the formula assessed by Cats.com—is a lightweight, unscented, non-clumping litter, so it offers a different routine from conventional clumping clay. In its review updated September 22, 2025, Cats.com praised its natural, lightweight profile but reported weaker odor control than some alternatives, tracking, and the need to stir the litter. That tradeoff makes it a better fit for shoppers prioritizing a coconut-based option than for those who want clumps for quick scooping or especially strong odor containment.
What product did Cats.com review?
The review covered CatSpot 100% Coconut Organic Cat Litter, a non-clumping coconut litter. Do not treat its findings as a review of every product CatSpot sells today: the company’s current collection also lists clumping coconut litter and plant-based clumping litter. Cats.com’s reported test results apply to the non-clumping formula it assessed, not automatically to those other products.

Cats.com says it purchased the litter and used it for several weeks with several cats; its methodology states, “We purchased CatSpot Litter.” The publisher also says the product was not provided in exchange for a favorable review. Because the reviewed litter does not form clumps, cleanup differs from scooping a clumping product: Cats.com says the litter needs to be stirred to help with absorption. If your preferred routine is to remove formed urine clumps and leave the rest of the litter in place, this product may require a change in habits.

The lightweight material may make a bag easier to carry, a benefit Cats.com noted. The same lightness can also make litter easier to track, according to the review. CatSpot says its own litter box was designed for lightweight litter and has high sides and a step intended to help control tracking or kicking; that description is a brand claim, not evidence that the box eliminates mess.
What did the review find about odor, dust, and tracking?
Cats.com reported that odor control was less effective than with some clumping products, particularly a concern to consider in a multi-cat home. It also reported some dust and tracking. These are the reviewer’s observations from its use of the non-clumping formula, not a guarantee of how every household will experience it.

Those findings matter alongside the product’s benefits: an unscented, lightweight litter may appeal to someone who wants to avoid fragrance and carry less weight, but odor containment and floor cleanup may matter more to someone managing several cats or prioritizing a tidy area around the box.

The official product page describes the reviewed formula as coconut coir with no added chemicals or synthetic ingredients. CatSpot’s FAQ describes its litter as made from one ingredient: coconut. These are the company’s descriptions; the sources do not establish an independent formulation audit.

CatSpot’s FAQ, dated January 8, 2025, claims coconut holds 560% of its weight in liquid. That is a brand claim, not a result from an independent comparative test in the available evidence. Cats.com also repeats an absorbency claim, but no independent laboratory result or named research organization is identified in the cited materials.
How should you interpret Cats.com’s ratings?
The review displays an overall score of 2/5 and, in a later product-rating table, a product score of 2.75/5. They are distinct ratings shown in different contexts on the review page, so one should not be substituted for the other.

Cats.com explains that its rating system values features common in traditional litter, while it sees CatSpot’s natural or alternative attributes as areas where the product excels. Read the low overall score in that context: the review’s practical concerns about odor, tracking, and litter-box routine remain relevant, but the score is not a stand-alone measure of whether a coconut litter suits a particular household.

What is known about price and availability?
The Cats.com review’s September 22, 2025 update reported a historical price of $17.99 for a 5-pound bag on the company site and Amazon, along with subscription discounts. Those are not current quotes. A retrieved snapshot of CatSpot’s official non-clumping product page also showed $17.99 and sold-out variants, but merchant prices and stock can change. Check the live product page before deciding what it will cost or whether it can be ordered. The review named Amazon as a sales channel in 2025, but current Amazon stock was not confirmed.
