The matching report is about Katy, a Springer Spaniel—not a dog named Lily. BBC News reported that Katy was one of 84 dogs found in poor conditions at a property in Tickhill, near Doncaster, and was later adopted by Wendy and Lindsay Cann in North Yorkshire. The available coverage does not establish whether the assigned name “Lily” refers to another dog or is a mistake.
What happened to the 84 dogs?
BBC News reported that the dogs were found at a Tickhill property in April 2025. The account described squalid conditions; some dogs were covered in faeces and urine. Officers said the conditions were among the worst they had encountered in their careers. The BBC story describes Katy’s coat as stained with urine and faeces. RSPCA representative Faye Gibbons said, “We could see that she was traumatised.” This was her observation, not an independent veterinary assessment. Read the BBC News report.

How did Katy settle into her new home?
Wendy and Lindsay Cann adopted Katy and brought her to their home in Cowley, North Yorkshire. Wendy said Katy stayed on the patio on her first day and seemed unsure about the grass. By the second day, she was running across it after butterflies. Wendy recalled: “She did everything she needed to on there and then the second day, she was romping around the grass chasing the butterflies.”
