The brand describes its recipes as complete and balanced and advises feeding mostly wet food. Almost everything published about the range comes from Lily’s Kitchen itself, so this review separates what the labels state from what has been independently shown.
What the range includes
The official cat range page lists wet food, dry food, treats, and multipacks or selection boxes. Examples on the page include taster bundles and shredded fillets. Recipe choices and pack formats change, so check the current range page before buying. Lily’s Kitchen cat food range
What the two labelled recipes say
Two recipes have detailed product pages with numerical label data: a wet pâté and a dry adult kibble. Each set of figures belongs to that single recipe and does not describe the whole range.

Why wet and dry percentages cannot be compared directly
The pâté is about 82% moisture, so its protein and fat percentages are per 100g of a very wet product. The dry food is almost entirely dry matter. A 9.5% protein pâté and a 27% protein kibble are not nutritionally competing figures until both are adjusted to a common basis, such as dry matter. The brand does not publish that adjustment, and we did not find an independent analysis of either product.
What the brand advises about feeding
Lily’s Kitchen says cats are not natural water drinkers and recommends that most of a cat’s diet be wet food. It presents dry food as a companion option, useful for grazing, treats, or variety in texture. This is the company’s guidance, not an independent veterinary conclusion. Its feeding guide, published 11 March 2025, also contains this sentence: “Cats wouldn’t naturally consume carbohydrates such as rice or wheat as part of their normal diet.” The page does not name an author or professional role, so treat it as brand wording rather than an expert quote. How to switch a cat to Lily’s Kitchen
The brand’s transition guidance is a gradual change over about a week. It advises starting with four-fifths of the current food and one-fifth of the new food, then increasing the new share over time. Its FAQ says sensitive cats may need a longer changeover and recommends speaking to a vet about concerns over weight or eating habits. Lily’s Kitchen FAQ
- Start with 80% old food and 20% new food for the first stage.
- Move the new share up in steps across the week, for example each day or every second day, watching stool and appetite.
- Stay at an intermediate mix longer if the cat is sensitive, or if appetite drops.
- Switch fully only once the cat is eating the new food normally and stools look normal.
- If the cat refuses food, goes off its food for a meaningful period, or shows weight loss, see a veterinarian rather than continuing the change.
The steps after the first are a general practical approach, not a brand schedule. The brand gives the 80/20 start and the roughly one-week frame.

What the brand’s claims rest on
The brand’s impact report, covering 2023–24 (the file itself is labelled 2023), describes its principles as complete meals made with meat and offal and using natural ingredients. The hunting-reduction figure
Some search results on feeding guidance cite a study at Exeter University linking Lily’s Kitchen feeding with a 36% reduction in hunting. We could not locate the study citation, the population studied, its date, or its methods, so the figure is not established evidence. Do not quote it as a finding until the underlying study is located and checked.

- Palatability compared with other brands. No independent taste or acceptance testing was found.
- Long-term health effects, or any effect on a specific condition.
- Independent quality or safety testing of the products.
- Value for money against competitors.
How to choose between options in the range
Compare within the same format and life stage. Check the exact recipe’s life-stage label and feeding instructions on its own pack or page, because the range is not interchangeable. Wet pâté, other wet textures and dry kibble differ in moisture, so compare them on the same basis or by feeding amount rather than by raw percentages. Price and availability vary by retailer and pack size, so compare current prices at the point of purchase; we did not check competing retailers for this review.
Verdict for cat owners
Lily’s Kitchen offers a range of wet and dry cat foods whose labels describe complete and balanced recipes, and it gives clear, conservative guidance on a gradual switch. Its feeding advice, to make wet food the main part of the diet, is the company’s position and is reasonable to discuss with your own vet. What the evidence does not show is that its recipes perform better than others, that they are independently tested, or that they change any health outcome. Judge the food by the label of the exact recipe you buy and by how your cat eats and digests it.
