What the Litter-Robot 5 Pro does—and what it does not
Whisker describes the Litter-Robot 5 Pro as an automatic, self-cleaning litter box that sifts litter after each use. Waste is collected in a sealed drawer with a carbon filter. The company also says its WasteID system distinguishes urine from feces for targeted odor control. These are manufacturer descriptions; independent odor or performance testing is not established here.

Automatic sifting can reduce the need to scoop clumps by hand every day, but it does not make the litter routine maintenance-free. The drawer still needs emptying, litter needs replenishing, and the unit needs periodic cleaning. Whisker’s “up to 10 days” guidance applies to emptying the waste drawer in a one-cat household, not to every household or every maintenance task. Actual frequency can vary with use and litter choice.

The key distinction is the Pro’s integrated camera system: one camera faces the entrance and another faces the litter bed. Whisker promotes camera streaming and recording, activity tracking and AI-powered cat identification. The Litter-Robot 5 does not have the Pro’s dual-camera setup, according to Whisker’s lineup descriptions.

The cameras are built into the Pro, but that does not mean every camera or identification function is available without an ongoing membership. Whisker says cat identification and some enhanced camera features require optional Whisker+. Check the current membership terms and feature list before buying if those are the reason you are choosing the Pro.
Whisker also says some features become more accurate over time and typically optimize after 30 days of regular use. That is the manufacturer’s guidance, not an independently measured performance guarantee. Current features and software can change; Whisker publishes app and firmware notes on its WhiskerOS releases page.

Will it fit your cat and your home?
Whisker says the Pro is designed for cats weighing 3 to 30 pounds and homes with up to five cats. Those are design claims, not a guarantee of comfort or suitability for every cat or household. A cat’s willingness to enter an enclosed box, the number of cats using it and their habits can affect whether the setup works well in practice.
Measure the location, including clearance above the unit, before ordering. Whisker’s listed specifications are:
- Overall size: 29.9 inches high, with a 22-by-27-inch footprint.
- Entryway: 15.75 by 15.75 inches.
- Interior headroom: 17.5 inches.
- Empty weight: 29.6 pounds.
- Power: 15-volt DC.
The listed box contents are the unit, power supply, fence, step, five waste-drawer liners and one carbon filter. These dimensions and included items are from Whisker’s product specifications.
Wi-Fi and app requirements
Connected functions require a 2.4 or 5 GHz Wi-Fi signal and IPv4 or IPv6 addressing. Whisker lists the app as compatible with Apple and Android mobile devices. If your home network cannot meet the stated Wi-Fi and addressing requirements where the unit will sit, app-connected features may not be usable as intended. Check the network setup and the current app requirements before relying on monitoring or camera access.

Price, trial period and warranty
At retrieval, Whisker’s product page showed a starting price of $899, free shipping and dispatch in 1–3 business days. It also listed a 90-day in-home trial and a one-year warranty for purchases made directly from Whisker. The page said a three-year warranty may be purchased or included in certain bundles. Prices, stock, delivery estimates and terms can change, so confirm them on the official product page at checkout.
Those direct-purchase terms should not be assumed for Amazon or another retailer. Whisker says purchases from other sources must be returned through that seller under its policy. Check the exact seller’s return and warranty terms before ordering.
Who should consider the Pro?
- Consider it if you want Whisker’s automatic sifting and value the Pro’s built-in cameras, activity monitoring or cat identification enough to justify the price premium over the Litter-Robot 5.
- Compare it with the Litter-Robot 5 if you mainly want automatic waste sifting and do not need the Pro’s camera distinction.
- Check the fit first if your cat is near the stated size limits, avoids enclosed spaces, or you have limited floor or overhead clearance.
- Factor in ownership effort if you are expecting to stop all litter-box chores: drawer emptying, litter refills and cleaning remain part of the routine.
Whisker’s page displayed a 4.4/5.0 score from 302 reviews when accessed in 2026. That is a changing manufacturer-site review figure, not an independent product rating. The available evidence does not establish independent reliability, noise, odor-control or long-term performance results, so those should not be treated as verified strengths or weaknesses.
