How to check on adoption or fostering
The ASPCA’s feature invites readers to explore the animals’ profiles and consider adopting or fostering. Because the page was published in 2025, it does not establish whether any of these animals is available now. Follow the profile links from the ASPCA feature, then confirm availability and current arrangements directly with the responsible organization.
If you live outside the featured areas, the ASPCA recommends starting with a local shelter. Its article also names Animal Care Centers of NYC and Los Angeles County’s Animal Care Centers. Verify current contact details, eligibility, and processes with the organization you choose; the feature does not specify adoption fees, medical histories, breeds, ages beyond Mister being a senior, or application procedures.

Where the ASPCA lists foster opportunities
The 2025 feature lists ASPCA fostering locations in the following places and specifies limits for two of them:
- Columbus, Ohio
- New York City
- Los Angeles, for cat fosters only
- Weaverville, North Carolina, for dog fosters only
Fostering may also be available through local shelters. Check with the organization for current program logistics before applying.

A small way to support a cat’s play
The ASPCA says Papaya enjoys chasing wand toys, which makes interactive play a relevant, optional form of enrichment to consider for a cat. That detail is not an endorsement of a particular product or a tested recommendation. Choose play that suits the individual cat, supervise interactive toys, and put them away when play is over.

The Rescue Effect
