Let the kitten choose when to approach

Continue feeding the food provided by the shelter or foster caregiver initially, and refresh the water. Ask the adoption source about the kitten’s usual routine. Make introductions gradual
Prepare household members to keep the first interactions calm. If you have other pets, plan introductions rather than allowing an immediate meeting. The adoption source or veterinarian can help you tailor the approach to the animals involved.
How do I kitten-proof the home?
Before letting the kitten explore beyond its starter room, inspect the space at kitten level. Secure electrical cords and put away loose objects the kitten could chew or swallow. Check small gaps, cupboards, and other places where a kitten might become trapped or get access to something unsafe. Keep the initial area controlled, then check each new area before opening it up.
