The 2022 clip riffs on scenes associated with both Top Gun: Maverick and the 1986 original, placing Lizzy into familiar movie imagery.
What is the OwlKitty Top Gun video?
It is an online parody trailer published on the OwlKitty YouTube profile. Sky TG24’s November 18, 2022 coverage describes edits that replace Tom Cruise’s appearances with Lizzy in scenes associated with Top Gun: Maverick and its 1980s predecessor. The video is a cat-centered spoof, not a remake, feature release, or studio production. Sky TG24’s report also points to a “Top Gun with a Cat (Behind the Scenes)” video.

Who are OwlKitty and Lizzy?
OwlKitty is the performance name for Lizzy, a real black cat. Videographer Tibo Charroppin is identified as the person behind the project, working with Olivia Boone. A January 2020 Portland Monthly profile describes Lizzy as an adopted shelter cat and says Charroppin began filming her in front of a green screen in November 2018.

How does the movie-scene effect work?
The creators film Lizzy separately and composite her into recognizable movie imagery. NPR/TPR’s March 15, 2022 account explains that Charroppin’s editing process can involve removing original characters and rebuilding the background where they appeared. He described the general idea to NPR this way: “I had a green screen and I had a really cute cat and I wanted to combine the two somehow.”

Charroppin also said that seamless removal of the elements he wants to replace can be harder than adding Lizzy: “The hardest [part] of it, funny enough, is not adding Lizzy – it’s removing the elements I want to remove seamlessly.” Those remarks explain the broader method; they are not specific production notes about the Top Gun parody. NPR’s report, carried by Texas Public Radio, says the separate Jurassic Park and Titanic videos each took about two to three months to make. That timeline applies to those videos, not to the Top Gun spoof.

Historical profiles connect the project with cat adoption advocacy. Portland Monthly linked the creators’ advocacy with Cat Adoption Team, and a historical WTVR report described adoption-related fundraising. These older accounts do not establish current fundraising totals, merchandise availability, or sales terms. Portland Monthly mentioned shirts, posters, and postcards, but that is not evidence of a current catalog.
Where can you watch it?
Look for “Top Gun with a Cat” on the OwlKitty YouTube profile; the behind-the-scenes video is listed as “Top Gun with a Cat (Behind the Scenes).” The reviewed coverage does not establish a current verified view count for the spoof.
