PerthNow reported rising interest in FurBaby’s Santa Paws portraits in November 2025, as families increasingly include pets in their festive photos. The report offered personal accounts rather than booking figures or a measured growth rate. For families considering a session, FurBaby’s current 2026 event page lists the dates, costs and practical arrangements.
Why families are including pets in Christmas portraits
For some families, a festive portrait feels incomplete without the animals who share their home. FurBaby owner Shari Lovreta Fiorentino told PerthNow: “To have a family photo without them just doesn’t feel right any more.”

Customer Shen Puccio described the portraits as a family tradition. The Puccios have included their husky, Wolfie, in an annual Santa Paws photo since 2015. PerthNow reported that Wolfie was 11.5 years old in November 2025; looking back at the pictures lets the family see their children growing up alongside her. Puccio said: “It’s become our Christmas tradition. It wouldn’t feel like Christmas without our annual photo here.”
These accounts help explain the appeal, but they are individual experiences. PerthNow’s report described rising demand without publishing booking totals, a year-over-year comparison or a percentage increase, so the trend should not be read as a quantified measure of Perth families’ behaviour. PerthNow’s 2025 feature provides the original reporting.

How pets are handled at the event
FurBaby says dogs, puppies and other pets can take part. Animals must stay on a lead or in a carrier until they meet Santa, and dogs enter the photo area one at a time. The organiser says dogs that are uncomfortable around other dogs may still attend if they are comfortable around people.

For a dog that should not wait near other dogs, FurBaby suggests a two-person arrangement: one person waits inside while the other remains with the dog in a car until it is time to approach. Ask the organiser directly about whether the setup suits your particular pet.

Photo delivery, privacy and personal photography
FurBaby says photos are uploaded to its SmugMug site for download within 14 days. Its page warns that images are ordinarily publicly accessible. Participants who want a private folder should ask on the day; the page lists a $20 administration fee for that arrangement. The terms say the photos remain the property of FurBaby and its photographer, and personal photography and videography are not allowed.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Planning a visit
- Confirm the session date, ticket availability and current event terms on FurBaby’s official page before you go.
- Arrive within the first 15 minutes of your booked session, as requested by the organiser, and allow for a possible wait.
- Keep your pet on a lead or in a carrier until its turn. If your dog needs distance from other dogs, consider the organiser’s suggested two-person plan and ask about suitability in advance.
- Count everyone who will be photographed, including pets, when working out the ticket total.
- If you do not want images ordinarily accessible to the public, ask about the private-folder option on the day.
The available reporting does not establish how FurBaby compares with other Perth portrait providers on price, wait times or handling arrangements. Families should compare current terms directly if they are considering alternatives.
