RSPCA inspectors and a nearby bricklayer freed Simba after she became trapped between two brick walls in Innaloo, Western Australia, on 28 November 2024. PerthNow reported that she was taken to a vet and later returned home to recover.
How Simba became trapped
PerthNow published its account on 29 November 2024, attributing details to RSPCA WA representative Lou Rowe. Inspectors were called to a home in Innaloo the previous day after Simba became stuck in a gap between two brick walls. Rowe said the gap was about three inches wide and Simba may have been trapped for up to 24 hours; the duration was an estimate, not a confirmed timeline.

How rescuers freed her
The inspectors were concerned that pulling too hard could break Simba’s bones. A bricklayer working at a nearby home helped by removing some bricks, creating enough room for inspectors to free her. The account describes this particular rescue, not a general method for freeing a trapped cat.

Simba’s condition after the rescue
Simba was taken to a vet. According to PerthNow’s report, the vet found that she had a low body temperature and superficial injuries, including a graze on her foot. The report said she was otherwise okay and had returned home to rest and recover.
