Its strongest feature for a buyer is that each recipe publishes its own guaranteed analysis and calorie count, so you can check what you are actually feeding. The independent evidence is much thinner: one reviewer’s hands-on test, and secondary reviews that say the brand has no known recall history. Treat Petite Cuisine as a reasonable candidate for a cat that already accepts wet food, confirm the label on the exact can you buy, and judge the food by how your cat eats and does over time.
What Petite Cuisine sells
The brand’s catalog lists six complete-and-balanced wet entrée recipes, a four-flavor variety pack, two lickable products, and two broth toppers. The entrées are built around chicken and fish recipes with pumpkin or sweet potato. Each of these formats is meant for a different job, and they are not interchangeable.
| Format | What the brand lists | How to use it |
|---|---|---|
| Complete-and-balanced wet entrées | Six recipes | Presented as a full meal. Use each recipe’s own feeding line. |
| Four-flavor variety pack | 12 cans, three cans of each of four flavors | A way to sample flavors. Its feeding guide is general, not recipe-specific. |
| Lickable products | Two products | Presented as complementary treats, not as a complete meal. |
| Broth toppers | Two products | Presented as complementary toppers, not as a complete meal. Feeding amounts not stated in the brand pages consulted. |
The brand’s homepage says it is presenting the same recipes in new packaging, so cans and pouches may look different from older photos on store pages. Packaging is covered in more detail below.
Brand claims versus verified facts
Petite Cuisine says its recipes are grain-free, non-GMO, and carrageenan-free, and that they contain no fillers or artificial flavors. Its nutrition page also explains why it combines animal protein, pumpkin or sweet potato, and broth, and makes claims about biological appropriateness, digestion, and hydration. None of these are independently verified quality findings, and the brand’s pages do not establish clinical benefits for any individual cat.

Tapioca starch appears in the whitefish recipe’s ingredient list. It is a starch derived from cassava rather than a grain, which is consistent with the grain-free claim, but the grain-free label itself still comes from the brand.
Reading the label on each entrée
Each recipe has its own guaranteed analysis and calorie count. The three recipes below are the ones with published panels in the brand’s product pages, accessed October 7, 2026. Values are guaranteed minimums and maximums as printed on the brand’s pages; they are not independent lab results.
| Label item | Tuna, Pumpkin & Ocean Whitefish | Tuna, Pumpkin & Tilapia | Tuna, Sweet Potato & Salmon |
|---|---|---|---|
| Minimum crude protein | 11% | 11% | 10% |
| Minimum crude fat | 2% | 2% | 2% |
| Maximum crude fiber | 0.5% | 0.5% | 2% |
| Maximum moisture | 85% | 85% | 84% |
| Calories per can | 60 kcal | 56 kcal | 57 kcal |
| Complete-and-balanced wording on the recipe page | Stated | Not stated on the brand’s page for this recipe | Not stated on the brand’s page for this recipe |
| Feeding guide on the recipe page | About 2¾ cans per day per seven pounds of adult-cat body weight | Not stated on the brand’s page for this recipe | Not stated on the brand’s page for this recipe |
Because the whitefish page lists 60 kcal per can while the tilapia page lists 56 kcal and the salmon page lists 57 kcal, the three cans are not nutritionally identical even within the same line. Check the calorie figure on the product you buy.

- Made with real, shredded tuna and tuna broth
- With added pumpkin to help support healthy digestion
- High-moisture broth gives cats the supplemental hydration they need.
- 100% non-GMO ingredients.
- Complete and balanced for cats of all ages.
Tuna, Pumpkin & Ocean Whitefish
The first ingredients are tuna broth, tuna, pumpkin, and ocean whitefish, followed by sunflower oil, tapioca starch, supplements, and other ingredients. This is the only one of the three recipes whose page states complete-and-balanced wording and a feeding guide, so it is the easiest to evaluate against a label.

Tuna, Pumpkin & Tilapia
The first ingredients are tuna broth, tuna, pumpkin, and tilapia. Its protein and fat minimums match the whitefish recipe, while its calorie count is slightly lower. Its page does not state a feeding guide, so use the directions on the can or the brand’s current product information.
Tuna, Sweet Potato & Salmon
The first ingredients are tuna broth, tuna, sweet potatoes, and salmon. This is the recipe with the lowest minimum protein and the highest maximum fiber among the three, and it has the lowest maximum moisture. If you are comparing it with the other two, these differences matter more than the flavor names.

Feeding directions and how to apply them
Feeding guidance on Petite Cuisine’s pages is general, and the two figures published so far do not match. The whitefish recipe page recommends about 2¾ cans per day per seven pounds of adult-cat body weight. The variety pack page gives a general adult suggestion of about three cans per day per seven pounds. Use the figure for the product you are feeding, and do not treat either number as universal.
- Find the feeding line on the recipe’s own product page or on the can you bought.
- Confirm the body-weight basis the line uses. Petite Cuisine’s figures are written per seven pounds of adult-cat body weight.
- Estimate your cat’s daily amount from that basis, then ask your veterinarian to confirm it for your cat’s weight, age, activity, and health. The brand pages do not account for individual needs.
- Multiply the daily cans by the calorie count on the label. For example, 2¾ cans of the whitefish recipe at 60 kcal per can comes to 165 kcal per day. That is arithmetic from the printed label, not a feeding target, and it should not be scaled up or down in a straight line for a cat of a different weight without veterinary guidance.
- Introduce the new food gradually alongside the current food, and watch stool quality, appetite, and water intake during the change.
What the one independent review shows
Cats.com published a review of Petite Cuisine that was updated January 6, 2026. Its reviewer, Kate Barrington, says she ordered a 12-can variety pack and a tuna broth topper for testing. She reports that her cats readily ate the food, and she notes that some cans seemed to contain mostly liquid.

The reviewer’s findings are firsthand observations from one set of cats and one set of products. They describe acceptance and can contents, which are useful for deciding whether to try the food. They do not measure nutrition, digestion, or long-term health.

What this evidence cannot tell you
A single review is not a controlled feeding study, and it cannot predict whether another cat will accept the food. Liquid-heavy cans may suit some cats and frustrate others, especially if your cat prefers a firmer texture. The review also does not compare Petite Cuisine with competing brands, so it cannot rank the food against alternatives.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Recall history: what is and is not established
The Cats.com review states, “To our knowledge, Petite Cuisine has never had a product recalled.” This is the reviewer’s wording, and it is a statement about what the publication knows, not an official regulator finding. Cat Food Advisor also reports no known recall history, but that is another secondary review statement rather than a comprehensive official recall determination.
In other words, the available sources do not show a recall, but they also do not provide an official clearance. If recall history matters to your decision, check it yourself:

- High-moisture broth gives cats the supplemental hydration they need.
- 100% non-GMO ingredients.
- Complete and balanced for cats of all ages.
- If you are in the United States, search the FDA’s pet food recall notices for the brand name and for each recipe name.
- Check the Petite Cuisine website for any safety notices, and check the retailer’s product page for a recall banner.
- Keep the can or pouch and note the lot code and best-by date in case you need to report a problem or identify a batch later.
Packaging is changing
The brand says it is presenting the same recipes in new packaging and asks customers to look for new cans and pouches at retailers. Mixed packaging may be on shelves at the same time, and product photos on older listings may not match what you receive.
When the packaging on your can differs from what you saw online, compare the label panel and feeding line printed on your can with the ones on the recipe page. Trust the printed panel on the product in your hand. If the panel differs from the page you saw, contact the brand before feeding the food.
Before you buy
- Confirm the recipe name and that the panel matches the recipe page you are using.
- For the variety pack, confirm it is 12 cans with three cans of each of four flavors.
- Check the seller, price, and inventory on the retail listing. Those details were not verified in the sources used for this article and can change.
- If you search for the variety pack, the phrase Petite Cuisine cat food variety pack matches the brand’s product name. Confirm the listing shows the 12-can, four-flavor pack before you order.
- Check the best-by date on arrival, especially if the packaging has changed.
Who this food suits
Petite Cuisine is a practical option if your cat already accepts wet food and you want recipes whose protein sources, calories, and guaranteed analysis are printed on the label. It is less of a fit if your cat rejects liquid-heavy cans, if you need a specific therapeutic diet, or if you want independent testing data. A cat with a medical condition should have its diet chosen with a veterinarian.
If you are comparing it with another wet food, compare these factors on the labels you can actually see: complete-and-balanced status; protein source and full ingredient list; calories per can; moisture and guaranteed analysis; texture and your cat’s acceptance; serving amount and cost per day once you have verified it; and package size and current availability. Published sources do not support ranking Petite Cuisine against specific competing brands, so the comparison has to come from your own label reading and your cat’s response.
Brand pages were accessed October 7, 2026, and the Cats.com review was updated January 6, 2026. Retail listings, packaging, formulations, and feeding directions can change, so check the current can before you feed it.
