“Carl’s the star of the show,” Riley Green joked to Entertainment Focus in a June 21, 2024 interview, when asked whether his dog would come to the UK. A recent spotlight reached a new stage: Country Living reported that Carl made his network television debut on The Voice in September 2026.
What kind of dog is Carl?
Carl is a Cowboy Corgi, according to Country Living. The name describes a cross between a Pembroke Welsh corgi and a blue heeler, also called an Australian cattle dog. It is a hybrid, not a formally standardized breed: Country Living notes there is no official Cowboy Corgi breed standard.
Country Living relays general breed descriptions from Rover, including short stature, varied coat patterns, and working-dog traits. Those are broad descriptions of the cross, not evidence of Carl’s individual temperament or training.
What is Carl’s life like on tour and at home?
Green has described Carl as a natural travel companion. In an interview published July 18, 2024, Oxford Cigar Company quoted him saying, “Carl’s a perfect tour-bus dog.” The interview captures Green’s affectionate shorthand for a dog who joins him on the road.

Country Living’s September 2026 profile says Carl travels on tour buses and private jets, but Green has also said home in Alabama is where Carl is most comfortable. The contrast makes him more than a touring prop: the public appearances sit alongside a home life that Green describes as Carl’s preferred setting.
Why is Riley Green’s dog so popular?
Green’s own comments suggest Carl has become a recurring part of his public image. Country Now quoted him on May 28, 2024: “I haven’t done an interview in the last year that didn’t involve Carl.” That interview was published as Carl’s presence in conversations around Green’s career was already a running joke.
Country Living reported on September 23, 2026 that Carl had almost 150,000 Instagram followers. That is an approximate figure from a dated article, not a live or independently verified count. There is no separate statistical study establishing how popular Carl is; the interviews, public appearances and reported following are the clearest indications of the attention he receives.

The Voice was a notable new platform for Carl: Country Living reported that the appearance marked his network television debut. The same outlet also reported that he appeared in a Gildan underwear advertisement. That report establishes a campaign appearance, not an ongoing brand deal or current product availability.

Carl has even turned up at a concert in a camouflage harness, according to Wide Open Country. The article did not identify the harness brand, so the appearance is a small detail in Carl’s touring life rather than evidence of a particular product endorsement.
