The video described in reports from June 2023 appears to show a kangaroo confronting a man at Cohunu Koala Park in Byford, Western Australia. The match to the exact “Watch a Muscular Kangaroo Square Up With a Man” title is likely, not confirmed: the reports identify the encounter, but do not verify the identity of every upload using that wording.
What happens in the reported kangaroo-versus-tourist video?
PerthNow reported on 13 June 2023 that a roughly two-minute TikTok video showed an American tourist stepping between a kangaroo and a woman at Cohunu Koala Park. The kangaroo had chased the woman and continued to square up and kick after the man intervened. A staff member then told the men to walk away; PerthNow said they were uninjured. PerthNow’s account
The next day, 97.3 Coast FM identified the kangaroo as Buckley. It reported that he scratched at and grabbed a woman’s shoes before the tourist stepped in, and that a staff member became involved to end the encounter. The station said no serious injuries were reported. Coast FM’s report
9News also placed the encounter at the park and said it lasted almost two minutes before a keeper intervened. Visitor Courtney Turtur told 9News the kangaroo scratched at her shoes and followed her; she said she walked away, then the tourist heard her scream and came to help. 9News coverage

Is this the exact video named in the title?
It is a plausible match, because the reports describe a kangaroo squaring up to an American tourist at a Western Australian wildlife park. But the reporting does not independently confirm that this is the specific upload carrying the exact title, so the identification should remain qualified.
Was the kangaroo really muscular, and who won?
“Muscular” is title language, not a verified description: the reports provide no measurements or independent assessment of the kangaroo’s build. They also do not establish a winner, a deliberate attack, or a definitive reason for the animal’s behavior. They describe a brief confrontation that ended when park staff intervened.

What did the park say visitors should do?
Coast FM quoted park owner Lucille Sorbello advising visitors to approach animals quietly and calmly, rather than pushing or grabbing them. That is the park’s reported guidance about this encounter, not a complete wildlife-safety protocol for kangaroos in every setting.
PerthNow quoted an unnamed park spokesperson saying, “The more you encourage them, the more they will react.” The same spokesperson characterized the animals’ behavior as sometimes “just playing” and “a natural thing.” Those comments are the park’s interpretation; the reports do not establish a veterinary explanation for Buckley’s behavior.
