The Tamagotchi behind the “made with real eggs” headline is Bandai’s Original Tamagotchi Celebration Egg. Its shell incorporates recycled eggshell material—a playful match for the toy’s egg-shaped design. It does not contain an intact egg, and it is no longer the newest Tamagotchi: that distinction now belongs to the Tamagotchi Paradise generation.
The Tamagotchi associated with the “made with real eggs” headline is the Original Tamagotchi Celebration Egg. Its shell incorporates recycled eggshell material, and its packaging uses recycled paper. That does not mean the toy contains an intact chicken egg—or that the whole device is made from eggshells.

There is one important update to the headline: the Celebration Egg was the novelty model reported in 2024, but it is no longer the newest Tamagotchi generation. As of August 2026, Bandai’s newer Tamagotchi Paradise line occupies that position.
What “made with real eggs” actually means
The technically accurate description is “made with recycled eggshell material” or “uses recycled eggshells in the shell.” Eggshell-derived material is incorporated into the exterior casing, tying the product’s construction to its egg-shaped design and to the Tamagotchi brand’s familiar egg theme.

- Includes Character game where you have to guess which way the Tamagotchi will move next!
- Sweet hearts on a pink shell with white 'Tamagotchi', light pink buttons, purple frame and original programming and characters

- Battery (CR2032) included. For Ages 8+
It would be misleading to describe the Celebration Egg as a Tamagotchi with a real egg inside, a toy formed from one intact egg, or a fully eggshell-made device. The eggshell material is part of the shell’s composition; the electronic components, display, battery, and other parts are not described as being made from eggshells.
The idea is both a visual joke and a materials story. Tamagotchi devices already resemble small eggs, so using recycled eggshell material gives Bandai a way to make the packaging and product concept reinforce each other.
Which Tamagotchi is the eggshell model?
The official product name is Original Tamagotchi Celebration Egg. It belongs to Bandai’s Original Tamagotchi series and keeps the compact, keychain-style format associated with the classic virtual pet.

The package includes:
- The Original Tamagotchi Celebration Egg device
- An instruction manual
- A ball chain for carrying it on clothing, a bag, or another strap
- One CR2032 coin-cell battery
The included battery is intended for testing purposes, according to Bandai. That means owners may eventually need a replacement CR2032 battery, although it is not an immediate extra purchase for most buyers.
How the Celebration Egg works
Despite its unusual shell material, the Celebration Egg follows the traditional Original Tamagotchi care loop. The owner raises a digital creature rather than caring for a live animal, but the toy still requires regular attention.

- The Original digital pet you love with stylish shell design!

- Raise your Tamagotchi from egg, to child, to adult and how you take care of it will decide which of the 7 Adults you’ll get
- Comes with 1 Tamagotchi device on a chain to take with you everywhere. Battery (CR2032) included. For ages 8 and up
Typical care actions include:
- Feeding the virtual pet
- Cleaning up after it uses the bathroom
- Treating it when it becomes ill
- Playing its mini-game
- Disciplining it when necessary
The character’s development depends partly on how it is raised. Different care decisions can therefore lead to different adult characters, giving the small device more replay value than a simple timer or electronic keychain.
Some of the program is available in English. Bandai also says it does not sell an LCD screen protector specifically for this model, so buyers should not assume that an official screen-protection accessory is available.

Was it really the latest Tamagotchi?
Only when the original 2024 headline was published. The Celebration Egg was introduced in the context of the August 30, 2024 coverage that popularized the “real eggs” description. Calling it the latest Tamagotchi today would leave out Bandai’s subsequent product generation.
| Model or line | What makes it notable | How it relates to the headline |
|---|---|---|
| Original Tamagotchi Celebration Egg | Classic virtual-pet gameplay and a shell incorporating recycled eggshell material | This is the product behind the “made with real eggs” story |
| Tamagotchi Paradise | Newer generation with a Zoom Dial, broader views, connection features, and expanded character possibilities | This is the newer Tamagotchi line, but it should not be described as eggshell-made |
What is newer about Tamagotchi Paradise?
Bandai’s newer Tamagotchi Paradise generation changes the play concept beyond the smaller, more traditional Original Tamagotchi format. Its defining feature is a Zoom Dial, which lets the player move between a cellular-level view and a wider view of the Tamagotchi world.
Bandai describes the line as offering more than 50,000 possible character variations and connection features. The larger number of possible outcomes is one of the main reasons it should be treated as a different, newer generation rather than simply another Celebration Egg colorway.

Bandai also announced Orange Tropics and White Glacier Tamagotchi Paradise devices for July 11, 2026. Those versions add tropical and glacier fields, along with more than 30 additional raiseable characters across the two environments. Their connection features include cooperative and competitive mini-games, and premium sets are available with dedicated cases.

Which one should you buy?
The answer depends on what attracted you to the story.
Choose the Celebration Egg if:
- You specifically want the Tamagotchi with recycled eggshell material in its shell.
- You prefer the compact, classic Original Tamagotchi experience.
- You are buying a novelty gift or a collectible tied to the 2024 product story.
- You want straightforward feeding, cleaning, discipline, treatment, and mini-game mechanics.
For readers looking for the exact product discussed in the headline, search for the Original Tamagotchi Celebration Egg or “Tamagotchi Celebration Egg,” rather than a generic “real egg toy.” Availability and pricing can vary by retailer because this is an older product relative to the Paradise generation.
Choose Tamagotchi Paradise if:
- You want Bandai’s newer Tamagotchi generation.
- The Zoom Dial and multiple viewing scales appeal to you.
- You are more interested in expanded character possibilities and connection play than in the eggshell-material novelty.
- You want to explore the newer Orange Tropics or White Glacier environments.
Tamagotchi Paradise should be treated as a separate product line. The available information supports its newer gameplay, environments, characters, and accessories; it does not support calling Paradise an eggshell-made Tamagotchi.

Useful accessories and ownership details
The Celebration Egg comes with its carrying chain and a battery, so owners do not need a long list of accessories to start playing. The most practical eventual replacement is a CR2032 coin-cell battery. Check the device and battery packaging before replacing it, and follow the manufacturer’s handling guidance for coin cells, especially in homes with young children.
For Tamagotchi Paradise, Bandai’s current merchandise categories include device cases, lanyards, and collectibles. Those accessories make more sense as a buying path for Paradise owners and collectors than as a claim about the Celebration Egg itself. Accessory availability depends on the region and retailer.
The accurate verdict
Yes, a Tamagotchi was made with material derived from real eggs—but the headline needs translation. The Original Tamagotchi Celebration Egg uses recycled eggshell material in its outer shell and recycled paper in its packaging. It is not a device containing an intact egg, and it is not made entirely from eggshells.
It was also not the latest Tamagotchi indefinitely. The eggshell model was the product behind the 2024 news story; Bandai’s newer Tamagotchi Paradise line is the current-generation option as of August 2026.
