A rabbit that repeatedly follows or teleports to you is not explained by the ordinary rabbit behavior summarized in the reviewed sources. April 1, 2025 community reports describe an apparently invulnerable rabbit, and commenters suggested Lunar Client’s April Fools behavior—but that connection is not officially confirmed. Check your edition, version, client, and whether other players can see or affect the rabbit before concluding what caused it.
For a practical first test, note the details of the encounter and compare the same world in a clean, unmodified vanilla client if possible. If the rabbit is absent there, that points toward the original client or its modifications, but does not identify a particular feature by itself.
What ordinary Minecraft rabbit behavior does—and does not—explain
The Minecraft Wiki’s rabbit summary describes rabbits approaching players who hold carrots, golden carrots, or dandelions, and non-hostile rabbits avoiding nearby players. It does not describe ordinary rabbits as tamed pets that teleport to follow an owner. This is a community wiki summary, not exhaustive proof for every edition and version.
Microsoft Learn’s Bedrock entity-behavior documentation describes a generic follow_owner behavior: “Allows a mob to follow the player that owns it.” The documentation says the entity must be marked as owned through taming, and its can_teleport setting controls whether an owned mob can teleport to its owner when too far away. This is documentation for a configurable Bedrock behavior component; it does not establish that the ordinary rabbit uses that behavior, and it should not be applied as a rule for every Java version.

Why Lunar Client is one possible lead
Reddit posts dated April 1, 2025 describe an apparently invulnerable rabbit following or teleporting to players. Some commenters suggested Lunar Client and an April Fools effect. These reports make Lunar worth checking if your encounter matches the timing and symptoms, but community comments are not official confirmation of the cause or implementation.
Java snapshot 25w14craftmine was a separate April Fools joke snapshot released on April 1, 2025, according to the Minecraft Wiki. Do not assume every rabbit report refers to that snapshot: some people reported using regular versions such as 1.21.4 or 1.21.5 alongside Lunar Client. Mojang’s later snapshot notes about leash mechanics do not connect leads to this teleporting-rabbit symptom, so a lead is not an evidence-based fix.

How to investigate the rabbit
- Record the details. Note the Minecraft edition and version, the date the behavior started, and the launcher or client you used.
- Check what other players observe. Ask someone in the same world whether they can see, damage, or otherwise interact with the rabbit. Treat a difference in visibility as a clue, not a diagnosis.
- Compare with a clean vanilla client. If practical, load the same world in an unmodified vanilla client. If the rabbit is gone, the original client or its modifications become more plausible leads, but the test does not identify the exact cause.
- Check whether it is limited to one place. Note whether it appears in a new single-player world, an existing save, or only on one server. If it is limited to one server, ask its owner about server-side features.
- Review modifications. If the behavior only occurs with your usual setup, check installed mods and resource packs. Change one thing at a time where practical so you can narrow down the source.
Do not assume that feeding or taming an ordinary rabbit explains owner-follow teleportation. The reviewed sources do not support that explanation. They also do not provide a verified rabbit-specific setting to turn off or establish a particular fix.

Is a teleporting rabbit normal vanilla Minecraft behavior?
The reviewed rabbit summary does not describe ordinary rabbits as tamed pets that teleport to follow players. A particular encounter still needs to be checked against its edition, version, client, and world.

Is Lunar Client definitely causing the rabbit?
No. April 1, 2025 community reports mention Lunar Client as a possible explanation, but the dossier found no official confirmation of a rabbit-specific Lunar feature. Treat Lunar as a lead to test, not a proven cause.
Can a tamed rabbit teleport to its owner?
Microsoft Learn documents a generic owner-follow behavior component for Bedrock entities, including an option for teleporting an owned mob to its owner when far away. That documentation does not say ordinary rabbits use the component or establish the same behavior for Java Edition.

What if only I can see the rabbit?
That may point toward a client-specific effect, but it is not proof. Compare your setup with a clean vanilla client and check whether another player can see or interact with the rabbit.

Could it be the April Fools snapshot?
Java snapshot 25w14craftmine was a separate April Fools joke snapshot released April 1, 2025. Some rabbit reports mention regular Java versions instead, so check the version you actually launched rather than assuming the snapshot explains the encounter.
