A camera strapped to a cat turns an ordinary outdoor wander into a view from feline height. In Tom’s Guide’s video, “Meow Wow! I Strapped This Action Camera to My Cat,” editor-in-chief Mike Prospero follows his cat Mervin as he explores—pauses and all.
Which cat-perspective video is this?
It is a Tom’s Guide video featuring Mervin, the cat of then-editor-in-chief Mike Prospero. Futurism’s article, updated July 7, 2023, identifies the video as “Meow Wow! I Strapped This Action Camera to My Cat” and links to it: watch the video at Tom’s Guide.
What does the footage show?
The cat’s-eye view is less a nonstop adventure than a glimpse of everyday feline curiosity. Much of the footage shows Mervin sitting around. The livelier stretch comes when he jumps into a tree, crosses a fence, and chirps at birds. Seen from low to the ground, those familiar cat behaviors feel like a small expedition.
How was the video made?
Futurism reports that Prospero attached an Insta360 GO 2 to Mervin. That identifies the camera used for this particular video; it is not a current product recommendation or evidence about the camera’s present availability, specifications, or suitability for pets.

Why did Prospero try it?
According to Futurism, Prospero was inspired by a late-March New York Times story about cat owners letting their pets film their adventures. The appeal is easy to understand: the camera offers a new angle on ordinary exploration, while the quiet stretches make the occasional leap or bird-watching moment stand out.
