Its pine pellets do not clump: they absorb moisture and break down into sawdust-like material. That can suit cat owners seeking a low-dust, potentially economical option, but it means waste removal differs from scooping conventional clumping litter, and some cats may reject the texture.

Unlike clumping clay, the pellets do not form hard clumps. Tractor Supply’s product-page Q&A says they break down into a sawdust-like texture as they absorb moisture. The retailer recommends a 1 to 1.5 inch layer in a cat’s litter box. It also says not to use this product in an automatic, self-cleaning litter box.

In practice, the non-clumping format changes the cleanup routine: urine-wet pellets crumble, while solid waste still needs to be removed. A sifting litter box or scoop designed for separating pellets from the finer material may help, but the available sources do not establish a particular box as necessary or compatible. Expect to adapt your routine rather than scoop urine into firm clumps.
What does the available review report?
Amy Brown-Towry’s Cats.com review, last updated September 19, 2025, says the author bought the product and tried it with several cats over multiple days. The reviewer reports low dust, little tracking, odor control, and good value, but also says it can be difficult to scoop, does not clump, and may be rejected by cats who dislike the pellet texture. These are observations from that reviewer’s experience, not results from a controlled or blinded comparison. Read the Cats.com review.

- NO HARSH CHEMICALS, NO ADDED FRAGRANCE—this non-clumping cat litter is an effective odor eliminator that’s made simple with plant-based ingredients like natural pine shavings, plus the absorbent power of ARM & HAMMER Baking Soda.
- BEST NATURAL ODOR CONTROL WITH NO ADDED FRAGRANCES + BAKING SODA. Eliminate the toughest odors with plant-based ingredients instead of harsh chemicals or synthetic perfumes.
- HIGHLY ABSORBENT PINE LOCKS AWAY ODORS. The pine shavings in this lightweight non-clumping cat litter directly bind to odors like thousands of tiny sponges to soak up liquid and lock away ammonia odors to keep the litter box fresh and dry.
- LIGHTWEIGHT so changing and refilling the cat litter box is fast and easy. That’s because this absorbent non-clumping kitty litter is natural and less than half the weight of clay litter and leaves no messy cloud of dust.
- A NATURAL CAT LITTER CHOICE. No new trees are cut down to make the pine shavings in feline pine. This cat litter comes from kiln dried shavings reclaimed from lumber production, so it’s a kitty litter that respects our precious natural resources.
Tractor Supply claims the pellets absorb up to three times their weight in water. That is the retailer’s stated capacity, not an independently verified comparative measurement. Neither that claim nor the reviewer’s odor observations guarantees performance in every home; litter depth, cleaning frequency, ventilation, and a cat’s habits can affect results.
Is it a good fit for your cat?
This bedding may be worth considering if you want pine pellets, are comfortable with a non-clumping litter routine, and your cat accepts the texture. It is a less suitable choice if your cat strongly prefers fine-grained litter, you rely on an automatic self-cleaning box, or you need urine clumps to make daily scooping straightforward.

- Superior Odor Control For Multi-Cat Homes
- Vet-Developed Pine Reduces Infection Risk
- Safe, All-Natural, Kiln-Dried Pine
- Environmentally Friendly, Sustainable Litter
- Zero Chemicals, Dyes Or Additives
- Consider trying it if low dust and limited tracking matter to you and you can manage the sawdust-like breakdown.
- Be cautious about switching abruptly. Offer the new litter alongside the familiar one so your cat can show whether it will use the pellets.
- Plan for the cleanup method. The pellets do not clump, and the manufacturer advises against automatic self-cleaning boxes.
How does it compare with cat-specific pine pellet alternatives?
Feline Pine and So Phresh are named alternatives, but the cited material does not establish current prices, stock, or delivered costs for them. Compare the exact product listings before buying: product labeling, stated material and processing, format, bag size, price in your area, and your own cat’s acceptance matter more than a broad assumption that all pine pellets behave alike.

What should you know about price and ratings?
Cats.com reported a price of $7.49 for a 40 lb bag, or $0.19 per pound, in its 2025 review. That is a dated review-era price, not a current quote; local pricing, stock, and delivery can change. The review also reported its own overall score of 4.3/5 and a 4.8/5 Tractor Supply customer rating at the time. Ratings can change, and the retailer rating includes reviews of a product primarily sold as animal bedding.
