A December 2023 IHeartDogs report says travelers Wes and Enes found an injured puppy covered in wet blue spray paint, got him veterinary care, and later arranged an adoption in Colorado. The account is secondary reporting; the clinic, medical records and couple’s original post were not identified.

What the report says happened

According to Dee Michaels’s IHeartDogs article, Wes and Enes came across the puppy on a mountainside while traveling. They took him to their hotel and bathed him. The report says the puppy later became distressed overnight, panting and running a high temperature, so the couple brought him to a 24-hour veterinarian.

The article relays that the veterinarian believed the puppy had fallen down a hill and was in critical condition. It says he remained at the clinic for ten days, but does not name the veterinarian or clinic, give a diagnosis, or provide medical documentation. Those medical details therefore remain claims reported by IHeartDogs rather than independently verified information.

Who was Blue, and what happened after the clinic?

The couple called the puppy Blue. The article says they also saw a mother dog and three similar-looking puppies nearby; Wes and Enes suspected they might be Blue’s family, but the relationship was not confirmed.

Because the couple were full-time travelers and could not keep him, the report says they looked for an adopter through Instagram. After video calls, they chose Austin and Tori. IHeartDogs says Wes and Enes traveled from Turkey to Denver, Colorado, to bring Blue to his new home, where he would live with the family’s one-year-old Golden Retriever, Bogey. No later independent update on Blue is established by the cited account.

What is—and is not—confirmed about the story

The only located account matching this story is IHeartDogs’ December 24, 2023 article. It says someone deliberately sprayed Blue, but does not identify that person or provide corroboration. The account also does not include a named veterinary expert’s statement or a direct, verifiable quote from Wes or Enes. An IHeartDogs author archive lists the story alongside an unattributed phrase, which is not enough to assign those words to either traveler.
