When it announced its launch on July 17, 2024, it named Los Angeles-based canine social club DOG PPL as its inaugural investment and said it planned to deploy $35 million over three years. That figure was a launch-era plan, not a confirmed total invested.

What is DOG PPL?
DOG PPL is a membership-based dog park network. In the launch announcement, the company was described as a canine social club combining a dog park with a social-club experience. At the time, it was expanding from Los Angeles, and the announcement said a New York opening was planned. That was a 2024 plan, not confirmation that the New York location opened or that it is operating today.

Why was DOG PPL Ani.VC’s first investment?
DOG PPL fit the consumer-services side of Ani.VC’s pet-focused thesis: it offers a social setting and shared experience for dogs and their owners rather than a veterinary product or pet-food brand. The fund’s co-founder Garri Zmudze framed the broader goal as bringing pets access to forms of wellbeing and care that people already use, including telemedicine, testing, social clubs and longevity-focused care.

DOG PPL’s co-founders, Liam Underwood and Alexander Esguerra, said the company focuses on enrichment and community for dogs and owners, and described Ani.VC as a partner aligned with that mission. Those statements explain the companies’ stated rationale for working together; they do not establish independent performance or outcomes for DOG PPL.
