How Margi Tooth reached Trupanion’s top job
Before joining Trupanion in 2013, Tooth spent more than seven years working in brand, customer and digital marketing for a UK pet insurer, according to her company biography. The biography does not name that insurer.

The company described the move as the completion of a multi-year, board-led succession process. In the same announcement, Tooth said, “It’s an honor to lead Trupanion as CEO.”

A personal detail in her company biography
Trupanion’s 2026 proxy biography says Tooth grew up on a farm surrounded by animals and once dreamed of becoming a veterinarian. In the filing, Tooth recalled that pets had always been part of her life, from cattle and horses to dogs, cats, chickens and an occasional pygmy goat. This is personal context from her company-filed biography, rather than an independent profile.
