- Check cat eligibility first: The manual says to turn off automatic sensing for kittens under 1 kg and pregnant cats, and to clean the box manually for them. Do not assume automatic operation is suitable for every cat.
- Consider access and placement: Cats.com describes a low entryway and compact footprint, but the source does not establish that the unit fits every cat’s size or mobility needs. Measure the intended space and consider whether your cat can enter comfortably.
- Expect some user feedback to be mixed: Cats.com’s customer-comment section includes praise for customization and odor control as well as complaints about app usability and cleaning difficulty. These are individual comments, not evidence of how common either experience is.
What litter works with the BASTRUMI?
The manual prefers mixed and tofu litter and says bentonite and mineral litter are also acceptable. It cautions that litter weight density and how freely it flows can affect the “Full” prompt. Cats.com reports that regular clumping clay or flushable litter worked in the unit reviewed, but that does not establish equal performance across brands, formulations, or the current retail revision.

The manual says fullness estimates are a reference and bag replacement frequency varies with the number of cats and household conditions.
