What episode 87 is about

Best Friends describes Homeless 2 Hero as a program that takes dogs facing euthanasia in shelters and trains them to support veterans. That is the episode page’s account of the program, not independent evidence about its training standards or results. The page does not say whether the program is still active.
Who is Marie Peck?
Best Friends’ episode biography identifies Marie Peck as the founder of The Fetch Foundation in Arizona and says she founded and runs it. The biography credits her with 35 years in animal rescue and a decade as a Search K9 handler. It also says she has two therapy dogs serving veterans and first responders after traumatic incidents. These details are biographical claims from Best Friends’ 2021 episode page, not independently verified current credentials.

What the episode says about pets and health
The episode page makes general statements that studies have found possible benefits associated with animals, including reduced stress, blood pressure, pain, depression and anxiety. It does not name the studies, their dates or authors, or provide sample sizes or effect estimates. Those statements therefore should not be read as quantified evidence about Homeless 2 Hero or a guarantee that a dog will improve an individual veteran’s health.
A dog’s companionship may be meaningful, but this episode description does not establish that pets or animal-assisted programs treat trauma or replace professional mental-health care.
