Its published pages do identify several models with specific pet-hair test findings—and show why fur pickup should be weighed alongside carpet cleaning, bare-floor performance, filtration, handling, and reliability.
Why this is not a verified 15-vacuum ranking
Consumer Reports’ vacuum hub lists a guide called “Best Vacuums for Pet Hair, Tested and Reviewed” and says it rates more than 250 popular models. But the available 2026 material does not identify the 15 models in the title, provide their order, or give a complete set of current scores. The examples below are models with specific findings in CR pages; they are not presented as the guide’s full picks or as a ranked top 15.

That distinction matters when shopping: a strong pet-hair result is one test dimension, not proof that a vacuum is best for every home or surface. CR’s 2026 canister roundup says its overall scores draw on laboratory results and member survey inputs, so an individual task result should not be mistaken for an overall rating.
What Consumer Reports says about the models with pet-hair findings
| Model | Pet-hair finding | Other reported strengths or trade-offs |
|---|---|---|
| Miele Complete C3 Marin | CR’s 2026 canister roundup describes it as strong at embedded pet-hair pickup. | Described as a champ on bare floors with top emissions performance; carpet cleaning is characterized as so-so. CR’s 2026 canister roundup |
| Kenmore 22614 | CR’s 2026 canister roundup reports a top score for pet-hair pickup. | Also described as impressive on carpet and emissions, and strong on bare floors. Its 23-pound weight is a handling consideration. CR’s 2026 canister roundup |
| Miele Guard M1 Parquet XL | CR’s review characterizes it as great at cleaning pet hair. | Also described as effective at filtering dust, but it struggles to clean carpets. The page labels its Amazon price subject to change. CR’s model review |
| Shark Navigator NV22L | CR’s indexed review says its power head did an excellent job picking up pet hair from carpet. | The same review describes its carpet deep cleaning as mediocre, illustrating that fur pickup and carpet cleaning are distinct results. CR’s model review |
These findings are useful starting points, not a like-for-like ranking: CR’s cited descriptions differ in detail, and the available material does not provide a full current scorecard for these models.
#1 Best Overall
- POWERFUL SUCTION. Dirt, fur & dust don’t stand a chance against the Pet Hair Eraser Allergen Lift-Off vacuum’s suction power.
- LIFT-OFF DETACHABLE POD. Conveniently clean anywhere in your home, even hard-to-reach areas, with the lightweight canister and quick-release extension wand.
- HEPA SEALED ALLERGEN SYSTEM. This vacuum captures dust allergens inside the vacuum so they don’t escape back into the air you breathe.
- TANGLE-FREE BRUSH ROLL. Cut the hassle, not the hair. This vacuum is designed to handle hair and fur.
- SCATTER-FREE TECHNOLOGY. Vacuuming hard floors shouldn't be a headache. Strong suction and scatter-free technology makes cleaning a breeze.
How to choose for the surfaces and fur in your home
If most pet hair is embedded in carpet
Look for a carpet-specific pet-hair result, then check carpet deep-cleaning performance separately. The Shark Navigator NV22L illustrates why: its power head earned an excellent pet-hair description while its carpet deep cleaning was rated mediocre. For the Miele Complete C3 Marin, CR reports strong embedded-hair pickup but only so-so carpet cleaning.
If you mainly have hard floors
Bare-floor results matter as much as pet-hair pickup when fur gathers along edges or across open floors. CR describes the Miele Complete C3 Marin and Kenmore 22614 as strong on bare floors; the roundup also reports top emissions performance for the Miele and impressive emissions performance for the Kenmore.

If dust filtration is a priority
CR’s Miele Guard M1 Parquet XL review describes the model as effective at filtering dust as well as cleaning pet hair, while warning that it struggles on carpets. Treat these as separate considerations: filtration strength does not establish carpet suitability.
If you need to carry or maneuver the vacuum
The Kenmore 22614 weighs 23 pounds, according to CR’s 2026 canister roundup. Consider that against stairs, storage, and how often you move the vacuum; the available findings do not provide comparable handling or noise details for all four examples.

What CR’s testing can—and cannot—tell you
CR’s current vacuum hub says its performance testing includes 250 back-and-forth passes over dirty floors per model, and that it currently rates more than 250 vacuums. The hub also reports 115,000-plus vacuums reported on. Those figures describe CR’s published scale and testing context; they do not identify the missing 15 pet-hair picks or their order.
A 2021 CR upright and canister test protocol describes assessing pet-hair pickup with 5 grams of pet hair. That is a dated protocol detail, not confirmation that the same quantity or every method remains unchanged in CR’s current tests. See the August 2021 test protocol.

CR also has a 2026 robot-vacuum roundup whose indexed summary says its picks excel at bare floors and pet hair and describes survey-based evaluation. The available summary does not name the picks here or supply their scores, so it is not enough to compare those robots with the named canister and upright examples. See CR’s 2026 robot-vacuum roundup.

A practical way to use these findings
- Start with your dominant floor type. Choose carpet, bare-floor, or mixed-floor performance as a first filter rather than relying on a single pet-hair label.
- Check distinct test dimensions. Compare pet-hair pickup with carpet deep cleaning, bare-floor pickup, emissions or filtration, handling, and noise wherever current model data is available.
- Account for ownership factors. Check current reliability and owner-satisfaction information, plus the cost and availability of bags, filters, or brush rolls. Those details are not established comparatively for the four examples above.
- Verify the current model record before buying. CR’s named findings are useful evidence, but the available material does not supply complete current scores, a 15-model list, or a reliable present-day price comparison.
