Who was Burt, the crocodile from Crocodile Dundee?
Burt was a large saltwater crocodile who appeared in the 1986 Australian film Crocodile Dundee. He was an animal performer, not the film’s sole or literal star: Paul Hogan played Mick Dundee, and Linda Kozlowski played Sue Charlton. The Associated Press reported that Burt had been captured in the Reynolds River in the 1980s and was more than five metres long.

Crocosaurus Cove said Burt arrived at the Darwin attraction in 2008. There, he became a visitor draw and an educational ambassador. ABC News reported that Cove staff credited him with helping educate tourists about saltwater crocodiles for nearly two decades.
In its announcement, Crocosaurus Cove said: “It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Burt, the iconic Saltwater crocodile and star of the Australian classic Crocodile Dundee.”
