According to CASIO, positive and frequent interaction can enrich Moflin’s simulated emotional state. Startling it, handling it roughly, or neglecting it may produce less positive simulated responses. Over time, the company presents Moflin as moving from relatively limited emotions and immature movements toward more varied expressions and stronger attachment-like behavior.
Those changes should be understood as the robot’s designed progression. Moflin may become more expressive in response to your interaction history, but it does not have the needs, awareness, welfare, or unpredictable individuality of a living animal.
Does Moflin understand what you say?

Battery life and charging
Moflin charges in its dedicated Moflin Bed using electromagnetic induction. CASIO’s approximately five-hour runtime is an estimate measured under stated conditions, including a temperature of about 25°C. Continuous use, temperature, and battery age can reduce actual runtime.

Charging safety rules
- Use the dedicated Moflin Bed and the appropriate regional AC adapter.
- Do not put anything other than Moflin in the charging bed.
- Keep metallic objects away from the space between Moflin and the charger; CASIO warns they can cause overheating, fire, burns, or damage.
- Charge within the recommended 5°C–35°C range.
- If storing Moflin, fully charge it at least once every six months to help prevent over-discharge.
What the MofLife app does
The MofLife app is a meaningful part of the ownership experience, not just an optional companion app. It requires an internet connection and CASIO ID registration. Depending on the supported version and region, it lets you:
- View Moflin’s current simulated emotional state
- Review interaction records in a journal
- Give Moflin a name
- Adjust its sound volume
- Check battery level
- Install software updates
- Enable Deep Sleep Mode when Moflin needs to remain quiet during transport
This app requirement is an important buying consideration. Moflin can physically react without functioning like an internet-connected chatbot, but managing the device, checking its state, updating software, and viewing records involve CASIO’s connected service.
Privacy: local robot processing versus app data
CASIO’s FAQ says Moflin processes collected device data locally and does not include personally identifiable information. It also says that Moflin does not understand or record spoken words; voice input is used for owner recognition.

That does not mean every possible data flow is offline. CASIO separately says data may be uploaded through MofLife when the user chooses to do so. The company describes uploaded data as supporting journal creation, servicing, quality improvement, and restoration if a fault occurs.
The careful conclusion is that Moflin’s local device processing claims and MofLife’s connected services are different things. Before pairing the robot or enabling uploads, review the current US MofLife privacy notice—or the notice for your own region—for the latest consent wording, account practices, and treatment of identifiable information.
How to care for Moflin
Moflin’s fur is part of its appeal, but it also makes the device less tolerant of rough handling than an ordinary plastic gadget. CASIO recommends gently brushing the fur with a soft brush. Brush lightly: aggressive grooming can damage or pull out the synthetic fur. A soft brush for plush robot fur can be a reasonable general-purpose care item, but it should not be described as an official CASIO accessory unless the listing is specifically verified.

If Moflin gets dirty, wipe it gently with a cloth moistened with water. Do not soak it, spray it, or allow water to enter the device.

CASIO also advises against putting clothing or accessories on Moflin, particularly when placing it in the charging bed. Do not treat costumes, collars, wraps, or attached decorations as routine safe purchases. They can interfere with charging, put pressure on the body, or create a handling risk.

Moflin could suit someone who wants a small, quiet presence but cannot keep a conventional pet. It does not need food, walks, litter, outdoor access, or veterinary care, and its compact size makes it easier to keep in a bedroom, office, or small home. It may also appeal to people who want tactile interaction without the commitment or allergy concerns associated with an animal.
However, “pet-like” does not mean pet-equivalent. Moflin does not provide the reciprocal relationship, physical warmth, living companionship, or welfare responsibilities of an animal. It also does not offer clinically validated mental-health treatment. CASIO’s calming and emotional-support language is product positioning, not evidence that Moflin treats anxiety, depression, loneliness, or any other condition.
The most realistic expectation is a comfort-oriented gadget that encourages a soothing routine: pick it up, stroke it, listen to its sounds, and interact with it regularly. That experience may be pleasant or calming for some owners, but its benefit is personal and should not replace professional care or human support when those are needed.
Current retail Moflin versus crowdfunding editions
Used-market buyers need to check which Moflin they are purchasing. CASIO says the current retail units launched in Japan on November 7, 2024, followed by launches in the United States and United Kingdom on September 17, 2025.
Earlier crowdfunding-edition units were distributed as Kickstarter and Indiegogo rewards between 2022 and September 2024. CASIO says those units were developed and manufactured by Vanguard Industries under license. They are not simply interchangeable with current CASIO retail units: CASIO states that crowdfunding units do not support the CASIO MofLife app, CASIO Clinic repairs, or related CASIO services.
Before buying second-hand, ask for photographs of the unit, packaging, serial or identifying information, included charger, and proof of edition. A listing that only says “Moflin” may not provide the app access, repair route, warranty, or support expected from a current CASIO retail product.
Where can you buy Moflin?
CASIO’s US materials contain a channel inconsistency. The main US Moflin page and FAQ reference availability through CASIO’s official e-commerce site and Amazon, while a separate US purchasing FAQ says Moflin is available exclusively through CASIO’s official e-commerce site.
Because retailer status changes and the official pages conflict, check the live CASIO store and any live marketplace listing immediately before purchasing. Confirm the seller, edition, authenticity, color, warranty, shipping region, return policy, current price, and whether the listing is eligible for the support you need. Do not assume that every marketplace listing is an authorized current retail unit.
