The Good Pet Stuff Original Hidden Litter Box Planter is best suited to a cat that can comfortably use a 9 1/8-inch-square opening and a household with room for a nearly 20-inch-wide enclosure topped by a 44 1/2-inch faux palm. Choose the Base Kit if you are comfortable putting litter directly in the base; choose the Essentials Kit if you want its included removable tray. The maker describes the carbon filter and enclosed design as odor- and litter-control features, but independent performance and cat-acceptance testing is not established here.
What comes with each kit?
Good Pet Stuff sells the Original in two configurations. Both use the same round, covered planter design; the difference is whether a removable tray is included.

Those figures are the manufacturer’s displayed starting prices, not a guarantee of the current price for every variant. Check the current listing for price, stock, and the contents of the selected kit. The tray’s value is mainly a cleanup preference: it gives you a lift-out vessel rather than requiring litter to sit directly in the base.

The Original’s footprint is about 19 5/8 by 19 5/8 inches. Its listed height is 21 7/8 inches without the faux palm and 44 1/2 inches with it installed. That tall plant may affect placement under shelves, near windows, or in rooms where vertical clearance matters.

These are the manufacturer’s listed dimensions. Measure the opening and the intended location, then consider whether your cat can enter, turn around, and use the box comfortably. The raised entry and enclosed interior may not suit every animal; the available evidence does not establish acceptance across cats.
Original versus Courtyard
The square Courtyard is the smaller sibling. Its dimensions are useful if the Original’s footprint is too large, but its interior and entrance are also smaller.

The manufacturer’s assembly instructions use a simple sequence: add litter to the base, align and slide the planter top into place, position the filter over the vent holes, spread the florist moss without covering those vents, then insert and arrange the faux plant. The planter top lifts off to access the litter compartment.

- Essentials Kit: Use the tray’s handles to lift out the removable liner for cleaning.
- Exterior care: Good Pet Stuff says to clean the casing with soap and water, then towel dry.
Good Pet Stuff recommends frequent scooping and cleaning. Its guidance about litter depth and replacement frequency is general manufacturer advice, not an independent veterinary recommendation. The FAQ says replacement filters are sold in three-packs and that filters, trays/liners, and faux plants are available by style; check the product shape before ordering replacement parts. What should you expect from odor and litter control?
Good Pet Stuff describes the vented, carbon-infused filter and florist moss as odor-control features, and says the enclosed design helps contain litter, dust, and dander. Those are manufacturer claims, not proof that the box will eliminate odor or prevent all tracking. No independent controlled results for odor reduction, litter containment, durability, or cat acceptance are established here.

The manufacturer says the entry should face the wall as intended and emphasizes regular scooping and cleaning. Those practices are relevant to how the box is used, but they do not establish a measured odor-control result.
Important use and purchase considerations
- Do not use a real plant in the top: Good Pet Stuff says liquid could pass through the top holes into the litter chamber. The supplied faux plant avoids that issue.
- Outdoor placement: The maker does not recommend outdoor use unless the unit is under a covered area.
- Alternative decorations: The manufacturer says other top decorations may be used if they are non-toxic to pets and do not damage the base.
- Warranty and origin: Good Pet Stuff says the Original has a one-year parts-and-labor warranty and is made in the USA. The full warranty conditions and those claims have not been independently verified; review the current terms with the manufacturer. Good Pet Stuff Original listing
Who should choose the Original?
The Original makes the most sense if you want the round planter appearance, have room for its footprint and tall faux palm, and know your cat can manage the opening and raised threshold. The Essentials configuration is the more convenient choice for someone who prefers a removable tray; the Base Kit is the lower displayed starting-price option for litter directly in the base. If size is the main constraint, compare the Courtyard’s smaller dimensions with your cat’s needs rather than assuming a smaller enclosure will be equally comfortable.
