That is the poster’s account, not an independently verified record of the family dispute. Why the requests could be difficult for a working horse yard
Clients and care routines cannot be treated as scenery
A livery yard has responsibilities and routines beyond the event space. The post says the property has paying clients and riding activity, so a request to exclude clients or stop workers moving around would affect the ordinary use of the business. The account does not describe the yard’s contracts or identify any particular legal duty; it simply makes clear that the requested atmosphere conflicted with the operation the owner says she runs.
Horses bring unavoidable sights, sounds, and smells
Asking for no horses in photographs or no horse odor near an outdoor venue asks the owner to remove or suppress defining features of the setting. The post does not say horses were removed, nor does it establish what could safely or practically be changed. It does support a simpler point: a working stable cannot promise the same controlled background and conditions as a purpose-built event venue.

Separate facilities do not automatically become event space
The sister reportedly also wanted the indoor arena for the baby shower, while the wedding request concerned part of the orchard. The account does not explain the arena’s schedule, suitability, or availability. A request to use an additional facility is therefore distinct from permission to use a defined outdoor area and would need to be agreed separately.
Was the owner unreasonable to set a boundary?
On the facts the poster reports, it is reasonable to distinguish between offering a defined area and agreeing to suspend the character and normal activity of a business. Her stated compromise was to try to separate the event area while keeping the yard operating. A family member can ask for a venue, but a late list of conditions does not itself establish that the owner agreed to provide them.

- Separation and safety: What barriers or boundaries are workable without interfering with horse care or access?
- Expectations: Are horses, stable smells, sounds, and ordinary activity acceptable parts of the setting, or is the request effectively for a different kind of venue?
- Timing and changes: When must requests be agreed, and what happens if requirements change close to the event?
Where the desired experience depends on an empty, odor-free, horse-free site, a dedicated event venue is a better fit than asking a working yard to become something else at short notice.
