You can recommend an ASPCA grant through your donor-advised fund (DAF) sponsor, or use the DAFpay option on the ASPCA’s DAF giving page. Use the recipient details below, then contact the ASPCA if you want it to connect the grant with you and send an acknowledgment.
How to recommend an ASPCA grant from your DAF
- Choose your route. Sign in to your DAF sponsor’s grant recommendation process and select the ASPCA, or start through DAFpay from the ASPCA’s DAF page. The ASPCA describes the online process as taking a few clicks; exact screens may change.
- Confirm the recipient. Check that the organization is ASPCA, also known as The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, and that its federal EIN is 13-1623829. The mailing address listed by the ASPCA is 424 E. 92nd St., New York, NY 10128.
- Enter the grant amount and submit the recommendation. Follow your DAF sponsor’s instructions and review the recipient and amount before submitting. Processing steps and timing depend on your sponsor.
- Tell the ASPCA about the grant if you want acknowledgment. The ASPCA says a DAF grant may arrive without enough information to identify the individual donor. Email [email protected] or call (646) 291-4517 with the DAF institution’s name, fund name, and grant amount so it can link the gift to you.
The ASPCA lists Fidelity Charitable, GS DAF, DAFgiving360, Vanguard Charitable, National Philanthropic Trust, and local community foundations as examples of DAF providers. What happens to the grant?
The ASPCA says DAF gifts support its area of greatest need. It does not promise that a grant can be restricted to a particular program. For a gift of $10,000 or more, the organization invites donors to consult its major gifts team.

Recurring grants
The ASPCA says you can arrange monthly or annual recurring grants through your DAF administrator, or choose the recurring option online through DAFpay. Availability and setup depend on the route and sponsor instructions.

Beneficiary designation
You can name the ASPCA as beneficiary of all or part of the DAF balance remaining after your lifetime. The ASPCA invites donors to contact it about these plans.
What a donor-advised fund means for this gift
A DAF is an account maintained and operated by a sponsoring organization that qualifies under section 501(c)(3). You contribute assets and may advise the sponsor about distributions and investments, but the sponsor has legal control of the assets after contribution. In practice, you recommend a grant to the ASPCA; you do not directly transfer or retain ownership of the contributed DAF assets. Tax considerations
Neither the grant route nor the recipient information establishes what tax treatment applies to your circumstances. The ASPCA does not provide individual tax advice and recommends consulting a tax professional. The IRS’s Publication 526 (2025), Charitable Contributions says a contribution to a DAF may not be deductible if the donor lacks a contemporaneous written acknowledgment from the sponsoring organization stating that it has exclusive legal control over the contributed assets; other limits may apply as well. Ask your DAF sponsor and tax adviser about your situation rather than assuming a deduction or amount.
