The Miele Duoflex HX1 Cat & Dog is a strong candidate for everyday pet-hair cleanup, especially when you need to clean upholstery, pet beds, stairs, and floors. Its package includes a dedicated powered handheld brush, and Ideal Home reports good hair pickup on hard floors and carpet. Two tradeoffs matter before buying: the dust container holds just 0.3 litres, and Miele’s headline runtime of up to 55 minutes applies only to the PowerUnit on low power without the powered floorhead attached.
Which Duoflex model is this?
This review concerns the Miele Duoflex HX1 Cat & Dog, not the separate Triflex HX1 Cat & Dog. Miele’s UK listing identifies the obsidian-black Duoflex as model 12377940, EAN 4002516714705. Regional product bundles and prices can differ, so check the model code and included tools on the local listing before ordering.

What makes it useful for homes with pets?
A powered tool for fur on upholstery
The UK package lists the Electro Compact HX-EC 20 handheld brush, which Miele describes as a tool for pet hair on upholstery and car seats. Miele’s product description says: “With the special brush attachment, you can remove pet hair from upholstery and car seats reliably.” The bundle also includes a MultiFloor HX-EB 20 electrobrush for floors, plus dusting, upholstery, and crevice tools.

Miele’s 2023 product announcement says the Cat & Dog version adds the SpeedLock wall bracket and Electro Compact hand electrobrush to the base model. Because contents may vary by region or SKU, verify the retailer’s package list rather than assuming every listing includes the same accessories.

Floorhead adjusts to the floor
Miele says the MultiFloor electrobrush detects the floor type and automatically adjusts roller speed. Ideal Home’s 2026 pet-vacuum guide reports good pet-hair pickup on both hard flooring and carpet, and praises maneuverability, automatic adjustment, and the included tools. Its testers also report using the vacuum on pet beds, cat trees, and stairs. These are Ideal Home’s findings, not independent testing conducted for this article.
Runtime: what does “up to 55 minutes” mean?
Miele lists up to 55 minutes of operation at power level 1 with the PowerUnit used solo and no electrobrush connected. That is not a runtime promise for cleaning with the powered MultiFloor head attached, nor a guarantee of full-power, mixed-floor cleaning time. Because the electrobrush is central to powered floor cleaning, treat the figure as a best-case specification for the stated configuration.

Miele specifies a 2500 mAh lithium-ion battery and a 210-minute charge time. Its listed floor area is 60 m², but the product information does not establish that every home can clean that area on a charge under every floor, power, and attachment combination.
How large and heavy is it?
Miele’s UK specifications give the vacuum a weight of 3.1 kg and a dust-container capacity of 0.3 litres. The compact bin is a meaningful compromise for pet owners: frequent hair pickup can fill it quickly, so expect to empty it regularly rather than treating the vacuum as a large-capacity cleaner. Ideal Home also flags bin size as a downside and says the unit is heavier than some cordless alternatives.

Miele lists two suction levels and a volume of 79 dB. It claims 99.99% dust retention capacity for the Hygiene filter; that is a manufacturer specification, not a measure of pet-hair pickup or a guarantee of allergen outcomes in every home.

Who is it a good fit for?
- Consider it if you want a cordless vacuum for routine fur on mixed flooring and above-floor pet areas, and value a dedicated powered handheld brush.
- Think carefully if a small bin would be frustrating in a home with multiple shedding pets, or if you want a lighter cordless model.
- Check runtime needs closely if you expect long cleaning sessions with the powered floorhead: the 55-minute figure does not describe that configuration.
For a household with two cats looking for everyday cordless cleaning, the package and reported pickup make the Duoflex HX1 Cat & Dog plausible; the bin size and qualified runtime are the practical checks to weigh against that convenience.

What Miele’s performance claims do—and don’t—establish
Miele says the Duoflex delivers cleaning performance comparable to a conventional Miele vacuum cleaner, specifically comparing it with a Complete C3 cylinder vacuum (SGEF3) fitted with an STB 305-3 turbobrush under specified dust-pickup and fiber-pickup tests using IEC methods. This is a qualified manufacturer comparison, not a claim that the Duoflex matches every cylinder vacuum in every household or cleaning task.
