What the Litter-Robot 5 Pro adds
Whisker describes the 5 Pro as a self-cleaning litter box with two integrated cameras for streaming, recording, and activity tracking, plus WasteID, which is designed to distinguish urine from solid waste. Whisker also describes AI cat identification and individualized insights. The company says cat identification is available as an upgrade through Whisker+; its current subscription price and the complete boundary between included and paid camera features are not established here. These are manufacturer-described capabilities, not independently validated claims about camera or AI accuracy. Whisker’s product page provides its current feature description.
The standard Litter-Robot 5 also has WasteID and app insights according to Whisker’s comparison chart, but it does not have the Pro’s dual-camera upgrade. The Pro is therefore most relevant if seeing activity remotely or tracking individual cats is a priority. If you mainly want automatic waste sifting, the standard 5 is the direct lower-cost alternative.

The $100 difference between the listed starting prices of the 5 Pro and standard 5 buys the Pro’s camera-focused feature set. A possible Whisker+ subscription cost may also matter if you want cat identification, but a current price and full feature breakdown are not established. For the least expensive model, EVO is listed $300 below the 5 Pro, but Whisker describes it as suitable for up to two cats rather than five.
Will it fit your cats and your home?
Whisker lists the 5 Pro at 29.9 inches high, with a 22-by-27-inch footprint. The entryway measures 15.75 by 15.75 inches, interior headroom is 17.5 inches, and the unit weighs 29.6 pounds empty. Measure the floor area and access route before ordering, and consider the entry opening and headroom for the cats who will use it. The dimensions do not by themselves establish that a particular cat will find the box comfortable.

Whisker states that the 5 and 5 Pro support up to five cats in the 3–30-pound range. Those are manufacturer specifications, not a guarantee that every cat within that range will accept or comfortably use the unit.
Waste drawer, setup, and ongoing care
Whisker estimates that a one-cat household may go up to 10 days between waste-drawer emptying. That is a manufacturer estimate, not a promised interval; household size, use, and litter can affect how often the drawer needs attention. The company lists a power supply, fence, step, five waste drawer liners, and carbon filter in the box. It specifies 15-volt DC power.

The unit’s size, weight, and need for an accessible power supply make placement worth planning before setup. Keep enough clearance for access and maintenance, and make sure the litter box is located where you can regularly check the waste drawer and clean the unit as needed. Is the Litter-Robot 5 Pro worth it?
Choose the 5 Pro if its dual cameras and monitoring features address a real need in your home—for example, you want to check activity remotely or are interested in the manufacturer’s cat-specific insights—and the listed $100 premium over the standard 5 fits your budget. Factor in the possible Whisker+ upgrade if you specifically want cat identification.
Choose the standard Litter-Robot 5 if WasteID and app insights matter but the Pro’s camera distinction does not. Consider EVO if its stated two-cat capacity is enough and you want the lower listed starting price. In every case, compare the live price and terms, measure the installation location, and make your decision based on the features you expect to use rather than assuming the manufacturer’s capacity or drawer-duration estimates will match your household.
