Lollypop Farm’s “Free Cat Day” took place Thursday, October 9, 2025, at its Fairport campus and Greece Ridge adoption center. The event has passed; no later event under the same name and terms has been confirmed. Adult cat adoption fees were waived, while kitten fees were discounted by 50%—kittens were not free.
What happened at Lollypop Farm’s Free Cat Day
The one-day event was held at Lollypop Farm’s main campus in Fairport and its adoption center at The Mall at Greece Ridge. Check-in began at 9 a.m., and adoptions were scheduled from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., or until the line reached capacity. These were the event’s 2025 hours, not a schedule for a future event. Lollypop Farm’s October 6, 2025 announcement described the offer as free cat adoptions for adult cats and a 50% discount on kitten adoption fees.

Fees and adoption process
Adult cat adoption fees were waived for the event. Kitten adoption fees were reduced by half, not waived. Attendees still went through Lollypop Farm’s regular adoption process with adoption counselors; the organization said applicants followed the same process as if paying the full adoption fee.

Why the event was held
Lollypop Farm President and CEO Alice Calabrese said, “Events like Free Cat Day serve so many purposes,” describing the event as a way to place animals in loving homes and make room for others relying on the organization’s services. The October 6, 2025 press release also reported that hundreds of cats were in Lollypop Farm’s care at that time; that figure is a historical snapshot, not a current count.
Visiting Lollypop Farm now
The event announcement is historical, but Lollypop Farm’s general visit guidance distinguishes between its two adoption locations. The organization’s adoption information says Fairport accepts walk-ins Tuesday through Thursday and requires appointments Friday through Monday. The Greece Ridge center accepts walk-ins without appointments.
