Perth hosted its first Oz Feline Fair at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre on 31 May and 1 June 2025. PerthNow reported that the opening day drew a record turnout compared with earlier eastern-state fairs, but published no exact attendance total. The record claim is attributed to event manager Judy Coish, not an independently audited headcount.
What happened at Perth’s first Oz Feline Fair?
The two-day event was held in the Exhibition Pavilions at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on both days, according to the venue listing. Its program paired CATstravaganza, an international cat competition associated with judge Steven Meserve and Loving Cats Worldwide, with a public marketplace and activities.

- CATstravaganza: Cats competed for Best in Breed and Best in Show. A pre-event preview said competitors had to be registered with a recognized Australian cat governing body.
- Vendor Village and Purr-Creations Alley: The fair included vendors and an artisan marketplace.
- Cosplay and cat-patting: Visitors could watch a cosplay competition and take part in cat-patting activities.
The event was one stop on a six-city 2025 tour: Brisbane, Canberra, Adelaide, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney. Perth was scheduled for 31 May–1 June, followed by Sydney on 6–7 June, according to Progressive PR’s tour announcement.

PerthNow’s 31 May 2025 report quoted manager Judy Coish saying Perth’s turnout beat previous eastern fairs and that ticket sales exceeded those in every other state, including New South Wales and Victoria. Coish also said VIP tickets sold out first. She described the crowd as thousands larger than at prior eastern-state fairs.

Those are reported comparisons, not a published, independently verified attendance record. The article gives no exact day-one visitor total and does not explain how the comparisons were calculated. So the answer to “How many people attended?” is that the published report does not state a number. The record claim should be understood as Coish’s assessment, as reported by PerthNow.
Coish said Perth would be included again, telling PerthNow: “We’ll definitely be back in Perth because I think the turnout here has been the best … our last stop is Sydney, so even for the biggest city in Australia, I don’t think it is even going to touch the capacity that came to Perth.” The 2025 event sources establish that statement, but do not confirm any later Perth dates.

How many cats competed?
PerthNow reported that about 130 cats competed. That is the post-event estimate; the preview published before the fair had described up to 130 competitors as an expectation. The two figures are not interchangeable: one was prospective, while “about 130” describes the reported event outcome.
Could visitors bring their own cats?
No. The event was open to public visitors, but the ticket listing restricted cats permitted inside to authorized competition exhibitors, pre-approved rescues and influencers. A visitor ticket did not authorize someone to bring a household pet.
