Provide the specified support
Aqueon says an acrylic aquarium needs support across its entire bottom. Use the stand or surface arrangement specified by the aquarium’s manufacturer; do not assume a partial-support setup is appropriate.

Plan the whole fish setup
Tank material is only one part of a suitable aquarium. The CDC advises researching aquarium type and maintenance, choosing a setup that fits your available space and time, and considering filtration and other equipment. It also recommends asking a veterinarian about the fish’s setup and environmental requirements.
Does food-safe plastic mean fish-safe?
No. The cited US regulation, 21 CFR § 177.1010, covers specified acrylic and modified acrylic plastics used in food-contact articles under prescribed conditions. It is not aquarium certification and does not establish that every plastic, finished tank, additive, or coating is safe for fish.

What about aquarium sealant?
Sealant claims are product-specific.
