All three reviewed products are clumping clay. Cats.com reports that each formed tight clumps, making scooping a strength, while dust and tracking were recurring drawbacks. The review also notes that liquid occasionally reached or stuck to the bottom of the litter box, particularly with larger volumes. Results in a particular home can vary with the litter depth, cleaning routine, box design, and the cats using it.

Which formula may suit your household?
Choose Unscented if fragrance is the deciding factor
Of these three options, Unscented is the one the review describes as having no artificial fragrance. Cats.com nevertheless noticed a slight clay smell, so “unscented” should not be read as “odorless.” The review reported good odor control and firm clumps, alongside some dust and tracking.
Consider Complete Performance Plus Fresh Scent for its multi-cat positioning
Cats.com describes this formula as intended for multi-cat use and reports tight clumps and easy scooping. The review also observed dust during pouring, average tracking, and occasional liquid reaching the box bottom. Its cited up-to-10-day odor-control claim is a claim reported by the review, not a promised interval between cleanings.

Skip Meadow Fresh if strong fragrance bothers you
The review found Meadow Fresh more strongly scented than Complete Performance Plus. If you and your cats tolerate fragrance, its multi-cat positioning and tight clumping may be appealing; if you are sensitive to scented litter, that reported intensity is a reason to choose another formula.

What to weigh before buying
- Clumping: The review’s strongest shared positive was tight clumps and easy scooping across all three formulas.
- Dust and tracking: Cats.com reported these as recurring drawbacks, so they may matter if litter dust or granules around the box are a concern in your home.
- Odor control versus scent: A fragrance can make litter smell more noticeable without proving better odor control. The review’s scent impressions and the products’ odor-control claims are separate considerations.
- Liquid at the box bottom: The review reports occasional soak-through or sticking, especially with larger volumes. Scooping frequently and using an appropriate litter depth may help with cleanup, but the review does not establish that these steps prevent it.
- Weight and handling: The reviewed packages ranged from 14 to 42 pounds, with some sizes varying by formula. Confirm the exact size available and consider whether you can comfortably lift and store it.
- Disposal: Cats.com says the clay litter is neither biodegradable nor flushable and recommends responsible disposal. Follow local waste rules and the package directions.
Ratings and price figures need context
The review lists historical prices per pound of $1.38 for Complete Performance Plus, $0.54 for Unscented, and $0.43 for Multi-Cat Meadow Fresh. Those figures are internally inconsistent with the same review’s broad statement that all three cost under $0.50 per pound. They should not be treated as current prices or as a reliable like-for-like comparison. Check the current price, package weight, and exact formula together before deciding which is better value.

Cats.com also reports that Scoop Away began in 1987 and introduced a low-dust formula in 2016. Those are brand-history statements reported by the review; they do not establish that the three tested formulas are dust-free. In the review’s testing, dust remained a noted drawback.

Based on the Cats.com review, Scoop Away is worth considering if you want clumping clay that forms firm clumps and is easy to scoop. The practical trade-offs are dust and tracking, occasional liquid reaching the box bottom, and formula-specific scent. Start with scent preference, then check current packaging and price; the review’s ratings and claims describe its tested products and should not be assumed to match every current listing.
