TruVet Specialty & Emergency Hospital is located at 2620 Lakeville Highway, Building D, Petaluma, CA 94954. The hospital lists its phone number as (707) 940-8444. Hoodline described the facility as 6,300 square feet and situated near Lakeville Highway and Casa Grande Road (Hoodline, August 20, 2026).
Hoodline reported that Petaluma pet owners had often traveled to Santa Rosa, Rohnert Park, or San Rafael for after-hours veterinary care. The report also cited waits of up to six hours at regional emergency and specialty centers and oncology appointment waits of about a month in Sonoma County. Those are reported conditions at the time, not current wait estimates or guarantees. Hoodline attributed the opening to a local access gap for Petaluma and northern Marin County.

Signs TruVet lists as emergencies
The hospital advises immediate emergency evaluation for signs such as repeated seizures, a severely distended abdomen or suspected bloat, labored breathing, heatstroke, pale or blue gums, uncontrolled bleeding, a severe allergic reaction, major trauma, inability to urinate, sudden paralysis, toxin ingestion, collapse, or unresponsiveness. Examples of urgent-care concerns
For stable pets without collapse or severe dehydration, TruVet lists examples including vomiting or diarrhea, limping, minor wounds, ear discomfort, coughing, urinary changes, and lethargy without collapse. The service is not a substitute for emergency care when a pet has potentially life-threatening signs. Its urgent-care page says to call for an appointment and notes that urgent care does not accept walk-ins.

Specialty services and schedules
TruVet’s specialty-care page lists internal medicine and surgery, as well as oncology and cardiology. The page labels cardiology “Coming September 2026”; because that date has passed, the listing alone does not establish whether the service is currently available. Confirm cardiology and individual specialist availability by phone. The published specialty hours are Monday–Thursday, 8 a.m.–5 p.m.
Why the opening was reported as a response to rising need
Hoodline’s August 20, 2026 account described the hospital as a response to increasing demand for veterinary care. It reported that TruVet was co-founded by Dr. Freya Kruger and Dr. Sam Tucker, both board-certified internal medicine specialists. Hoodline also cited historical national booking data: VetSuccess figures, as cited by the American Veterinary Medical Association in 2021 reporting, showed veterinary appointment bookings grew 4.5% nationwide from 2019 to 2020 and a further 6.5% in the first half of 2021 compared with the first half of 2020. Those figures are historical national measures, not current data or a quantified measure of demand in Petaluma.
