The Simba Hybrid could suit a dog-friendly holiday cottage if its medium-firm feel works for your guests and you protect and care for it properly. Simba describes the UK Hybrid as a 25 cm mattress with pocket springs and foam, but the available product information does not establish that it is dog-proof, pet-tested or covered by a dog-specific warranty. Its strongest practical case for a rental is that Simba offers waterproof protectors and requires protector use to maintain the mattress’s 10-year warranty.
What makes the Simba Hybrid a possible fit for a cottage?
Simba’s UK product page describes the standard Hybrid as a five-layer, 25 cm-deep, medium-firm mattress with nine support zones and up to 1,900 conical pocket Aerocoil springs. The manufacturer describes the upper layers as cradling the sleeper, with firmer support below. Those are product descriptions, not a guarantee that every guest will find it comfortable. Check the current Simba Hybrid specifications against your guests’ comfort preferences, bed base and fitted-protector size.

Is it dog-proof or covered for pet damage?
No dog-specific testing, resistance to claws or pet-friendly warranty is established by the available product and support information. The Hybrid’s construction and a protector may make it a reasonable choice for a cottage that accepts dogs, but that is a practical inference—not a claim that the mattress can withstand scratching, chewing, accidents or odours.

Set clear house rules about whether dogs may go on the bed. If you allow them, treat the mattress as something to protect and inspect between stays rather than relying on its construction to prevent damage.
How should a cottage owner protect the mattress?
Simba states that protector use is required to maintain its 10-year mattress warranty and lists waterproof protector options. A correctly sized waterproof protector adds a removable barrier between guests and the mattress. Choose one that fits the mattress depth and bed size, and follow its care instructions. A protector should not be treated as a guarantee against claw damage, every odour or all liquid penetration, or as automatic warranty coverage for any type of damage. Can you wash a Simba Hybrid mattress cover?
It depends on the cover design. Simba’s support guidance distinguishes covers with a zip around the side from those with a zip underneath: for the former, it says the white sleep surface can be machine-washed at up to 40°C on a reduced spin, while the grey half is spot-clean only. For an underside-zip cover, the cover is not removable or machine washable. Simba separately says the covers on its handmade Natural Hybrid Source, Escape and Apex models cannot be removed. Check the mattress label and model-specific instructions before attempting to remove or wash a cover; do not assume every Simba Hybrid has the same design. See Simba’s support and care guidance.

What maintenance does Simba specify?
Simba says to rotate the mattress 180 degrees once a month for the first three months, then once every three months. It says the mattress does not need to be flipped and describes regular rotation as one of the conditions of its warranty. Follow the instructions for your specific mattress and keep a simple record of rotations if you manage several cottage beds. Details are on the Simba support page.

Which Simba Hybrid model should you compare?
Simba’s UK product page lists several models, but mattress depth and spring count alone do not establish which is best for dogs. Compare them for guest comfort, bed-base fit, protector fit, cleaning arrangements and cost. Does the cooling update matter for a dog-friendly cottage?
T3 reported on 15 August 2026 that Simba added HeatRelease technology to its UK Hybrid range. T3 relayed Simba’s claim that the technology can keep sleepers “up to 4.4°C cooler.” This is a company performance claim, not an independent finding or a promise about a particular room, sleeper or pet. T3 reported HeatRelease as standard on Hybrid Ultra and optional on Luxe and Pro; verify the configuration on the live listing for the exact mattress you are considering. How to decide for your rental
- Comfort: decide whether a medium-firm feel suits the guests you expect.
- Fit: match mattress depth, bed base, sheets and waterproof protector.
- Turnover and cleaning: check the cover design and set procedures that follow its specific care instructions.
- Pet policy: decide whether dogs are allowed on beds and communicate the rule clearly.
- Warranty: follow Simba’s protector and rotation conditions, and do not assume pet damage is covered.
For a dog-friendly cottage, the Simba Hybrid is a plausible option when its comfort and fit suit the property and the owner is prepared to use a protector and follow the care instructions. The evidence supports that cautious case, not the stronger claim that the mattress is inherently ideal for dogs.
