The Zoological Parks Authority’s 2025 annual-report search excerpt says the pair arrived in June 2025 from Victoria’s Dingo Sanctuary and Research Centre. The report PDF was not accessible, so the specific source detail is best treated cautiously; Perth Zoo’s announcement confirms Victoria as their origin and the previous month as their arrival timing.
How were the puppies settling in?
At the time of the August 2025 announcement, Sunny and Luna were acclimatising in the zoo’s veterinary department. Keepers were building trusting relationships with them and carrying out daily training as part of their adjustment.

Why are dingoes part of Perth Zoo’s Australian Bushwalk?
Perth Zoo’s dingo species profile describes dingoes as dog-like canids and identifies habitat loss and poisoning from baits intended for wild dogs among the threats they face. The profile provides general context for the zoo’s stated hope that Sunny and Luna could inspire interest in dingoes; it does not settle their current display status.
