In March 2024, Scarborough’s free Downward Dog Yoga community was preparing to join a 24-hour relay swim to raise funds for Ocean Heroes, which supports neuro-diverse people and families living with autism. The Revo Fitness 24 Hour Swim was scheduled for April 19–20, 2024, at Scarborough Beach Pool.
What was Downward Dog Yoga?
Yoga instructor Shane Fleay started Downward Dog Yoga in October 2022 with a few friends. PerthNow described it as a free dog-yoga community whose classes had grown to as many as 70 participants.

In the March 16, 2024 report, classes were listed as 45 minutes every Tuesday at 6:10 a.m. at Brighton Reserve in Scarborough. That was the schedule reported at the time, not a verified current timetable.
For Fleay, the gathering was as much about companionship as yoga. He told PerthNow: “I think it’s just a good crew of people that just come down and enjoy hanging out having a coffee afterwards.” He also joked that the aim was to have fun and “get licked in the face by the dogs.”
